- Blue-light stimulation through a fibre in the ARC of ChR2-expressing MePD GABAergic terminals lengthened the LH interpulse interval in a frequency-dependent way: 10 Hz raised it from about 23 to 38 min and 20 Hz from about 23 to 62 min, whereas 2 Hz, 5 Hz and no stimulation had no effect, and light in wild-type mice without ChR2 had no effect. This indicates that activating this GABAergic input to the ARC suppresses the GnRH pulse generator output.
